Trip to New Zealand (2)
My name is Valeria Whitworth. I am a teacher of English in Lyceum №2 in Volgograd. I have been a reader of School English newspaper for a very long time and I especially enjoy reading articles about other countries and cultures. So I would like to share my holiday experience in an English-speaking country. My husband is from New Zealand. My first visit to his native country was for Christmas 2006, New Year 2006-2007. And I must admit that was the best holiday ever.
Trip to New Zealand
My name is Valeria Whitworth. I am a teacher of English in Lyceum №2 in Volgograd. I have been a reader of School English newspaper for a very long time and I especially enjoy reading articles about other countries and cultures. And I must admit that was the best holiday ever.
A Wonderful Trip to New York City
My daughter and I had agreed that we wanted to continue the tradition of exchanging gifts with each other at Christmas time, yet we had few material needs and thought it would fit the bill to give each other a weekend in the big city, seeing shows on Broadway and generally taking in the sights and sounds of the most visited city in the world and the home of more than 7 million people.
Impressions of the Netherlands
Two of my oldest and best friends, George and Truus, live in Geleen, which is a small town in the province of Limburg in the southern part of the Netherlands. The word ‘Netherlands’ means ‘low lands’ and, together with Belgium and Luxembourg, this part of Europe is sometimes referred to as ‘the Low Countries’ as they are literally low lying, ie most parts are not far above sea level.

“Today, a lacquer-ware factory. The fresh milky white sap

of the lacquer tree makes the highest quality lacquer. As it oxidises, becomes black – the commonest lacquer for furniture, much of which is further decorated with beautiful jade art which abounded in the factory – from huge vases to small jewellery items. From there, we went to the delicately tiered Small Goose Pagoda in the Jianfu Temple, one of the oldest pagodas in China. Then an afternoon of free time before our flight to Beijing and the Tianhong Plaza Hotel.”

I have already written about my visits to two of England’s famous old cities, Durham and Lincoln. Now I would like to give you an account of my trip to another old cathedral city which lies in the south-east of the country in the county of Cambridgeshire in the region known as East Anglia. As the regional name suggests, this was the area nearest to present-day Germany whence came the ancient invaders, the Angles. You may have heard their name linked with another Germanic tribe who were also successful invaders who originated in Saxony, the pair being known collectively as the Anglo-Saxons.
My Visit to Netherlands
Tell us, please, about the purpose of your visit the Netherlands?
The purpose of my visit the Netherlands was a business trip. I went to Berlin first with a group of students for the practice. It was called the “Studienbesuch” in German. In English it means a kind of a studying trip, so to say. We visited on the invitation of the Construction Company in Berlin.
Just do it!
The plane is taking off and again I anticipate that keen feeling of something new, frightening and exciting. We are leaving Samara for Westtown, Pennsylvania. Everything is far behind-all those piles of documents and a day trip to Moscow to be interviewed at the US Embassy.
