Miley Cyrus song ruled out of Grammy race

Miley Cyrus song ruled out of Grammy race A song by US teen star Miley Cyrus that had been nominated for a Grammy award has now been ruled ineligible.

The Climb, featured in Hannah Montana: The Movie, had been shortlisted for the best song written for motion picture, television or other visual media prize.
Because the track was not specifically written for the film, it has now been replaced by another song.
The 52nd Grammy Awards, presented by the Recording Academy, will be held in Los Angeles on 31 January.

    Oscar-winning

In a statement, the Academy said it went “to great lengths to review submissions through a meticulous and rigorous screening process”.
“Despite this procedure, there are rare occasions where changes are required.”
The Climb, it continued, had been withdrawn after Walt Disney Records “verified that the song was not written specifically for the film”.
Its place in the shortlist will now be filled by Karen O song All Is Love, which featured in the movie version of Where the Wild Things Are.
Other songs in this category include Bruce Springsteen’s title track from The Wrestler and Jai Ho, an Oscar-winning song from Slumdog Millionaire.
Cyrus, daughter of country star Billy Ray, kicks off her first UK tour on Sunday at the O2 arena in London.
It has been reported that the winner of this year’s X Factor will record The Climb as their debut single, a leading contender for the Christmas number one spot.
