Dear Reader,
Now that there is so much misunderstanding in the world, when it is torn by different religious, racial and cultural contradictions, I would like to touch upon the question of tolerance, ie the ability or willingness to allow or accept something that is unpleasant or that you do not like or agree with.
A country which can serve as an example of tolerance is the Netherlands. It is world famous for its kind and friendly people who are tolerant enough to accept many things which are not accepted or allowed by some other cultures. Maybe it is due to their geographical position or climate or both, nobody knows, but it’s a fact.
And now I give the floor to our permanent author, Mr David Wright, who has visited the Netherlands several times and has friends there. Next to my column you will find his article about the carnival which is a mixture of many different things but probably best of all represents the idea of tolerance.
