Дорогие друзья!
При подготовке к экзамену важно знать его точный формат (о нем дает представление демонстрационная версия экзамена); уметь выполнять задания тестового типа, содержащиеся в экзамене. Но еще более важно – правильно выбрать учебные пособия, которые помогут вам развить коммуникативные умения чтения, аудирования, письменной и устной речи. При этом совершенно не обязательно, чтобы учебник точно копировал задания, которые содержатся в ЕГЭ. Важно, чтобы в нем содержались упражнения, развивающие те навыки и умения, которые требуются при общении на английском языке, и, следовательно, проверяются на экзамене.
Сегодня мы знакомим вас с одним из учебных комплексов, которые могут помочь вам успешно подготовиться к ЕГЭ по английскому языку. Это учебник нового поколения New Millenium English, который рекомендован Министерством образования Российской Федерации для использования в средней школе. Он создан российскими учителями-практиками в рамках одного из проектов Британского Совета и печатается издательством ТИТУЛ.

1. Speaking
Задание для развития устной речи.
Одно из проверяемых умений в устной части ЕГЭ по иностранным языкам – умение выразить и аргументировать свою точку зрения в диалоге с собеседником. Предлагаемое упражнение помогает вам вспомнить те речевые конструкции, которые могут вам при этом понадобиться и попрактиковаться в их употреблении в разговоре со своим одноклассником. Предлагаемая тема очень интересна, есть о чем поспорить, и фактов для обсуждения достаточно.

2. Reading
Задание для развития умений чтения.
Это задание помогает потренировать умения просмотрового чтения. Постарайтесь ответить на вопросы как можно быстрее, не вчитываясь внимательно в текст, а просматривая его. Попробуйте сориентироваться в содержании частей текста по их названиям, по первым и заключительным фразам абзацев.
Еще одно умение, которое развивает это упражнение, это умение определять значение слов и фраз по контексту. Оно совершенно необходимо при чтении и без всякого сомнения пригодится вам на экзамене. Но для этого необходимо второй раз, и уже очень внимательно, прочитать текст.

What science can do
A. Powerful but cordless
Cords and wires are likely to disappear from our homes after 2015. Extremely efficient batteries will provide cable-free operation of many household devices, including vacuum cleaners, computers and irons. For this reason plug sockets will be replaced by battery re-charging stations. Most of the electricity required in such wireless power networks will be generated by conventional technology, although advanced solar panels, wind and wave power generators will become quite common. Some high-tech homes will use other alternative energy sources.

B. User-friendly space
Movable walls made of lightweight sound-proof materials will allow us to section off another bedroom for a visitor or create a large single space to host a party in just halt an hour. E. Kitchens will be smart too
Kitchens filled with vegetable peelings, dirty dishes and unpleasant smells will become things of the past. Advances in both microchip and biotechnology will change them completely. A smart fridge will keep an eye on the quantity and quality of the food stored in it and automatically notify the nearest shop if you are short of fruit or milk. Cookers will scan cooking data on the food and apply the right amount of heat for the right amount of time. Electric dish-washers will probably become outdated too as dirty dishes made of biodegradable materials will be used to fertilise the soil in the garden.
